Rome – between Legend & Archeology

Paolo Ruzzi’s videopresentation, programmed by Mrs Ialenti for her Terminale students learning Ialian, was designed jointly with Mr Ruzzi himself.

Since 2009, when he founded Pro Roma Mia, an association of History and Archeology-loving aficionados, Paolo has also been its speaker and representative. The association aims at studying Rome through guided tours of the City developed within the association.

Paolo had already guided LFCG’s British Section students in 2018 during a school trip to Rome organised with Mr Carrson and Mrs Ialenti (History A-Levels and Italian A-Levels students). The association organises 102 cultural walks each month, in Italian, and also in English.

Current Terminale 3 and 4 students particularly enjoyed Mr Ruzzi’s presentation "Roma tra leggenda e archeologia" (Rome, between Legend & Archeology).

In fact, objects belonging to Romulus, Rome’s founder, have recently been discovered; among them, a precious shield said to have been awarded to Romulus to make him invincible.

In 2007, mosaics were found in an underground vault only accessible by a 12-metre long telescopic camera. To preserve the mosaics from destruction, the vault cannot be visited by humans. The Temple was apparently built on the site where the Lupa (she wolf) is said to have breastfed the twins, Remus & Romulus...

The students only had enthusiastic feedback about the presentation:

Amelie Un intervista bellissima che mi ha aiutato a conoscere la storia di Roma da un’ altro punto di vista.
Ho imparato delle cose che non avevo mai sentito. Mi è piaciuta tantissimo !
A beautiful presentation which helped me know more about Rome’s history from another point of view. I have learnt things I had never heard before. I enjoyed it so much!

Jean-Laurent – La presentazione mi è piaciuta molto perchè era divertente e semplice da capire. Ho imparato tante cose sulla mitologia e storia vera. Grazie mille !
I really enjoyed the presentation because it was fun and easy to understand. I have learnt so much about the mythology and real history. Thank you so much!

Hector Mi è piaciuto moltissimo. É stato molto utile.
I enjoyed it very much. It has been really useful.
