The South Kensington Primary English department has been busy preparing activities ready for King Charles' coronation! Pupils have learnt about the King's life and interests as well as about the traditions surrounding a coronation in English lessons as well as doing some art and craft activities, culminating with a Garden Party including traditional Coronation music!
Children, dressed in red, white and blue came down bringing some artwork (masks, flags, crowns, coronation baskets etc). Year group by year group, they stood and showed their artwork while other classes watched and clapped. The canteen provided a packet of biscuits and a carton of juice for the children to enjoy afterwards..
Starting with a welcome message, followed by extracts read aloud from "I was Glad" (which will be heard during the Coronation), a loop procession, a short speech about the new King and three cheers for His Majesty, the celebration was royal and joyful, while Zadok the Priest filled the playground with solemn music.
Thank you to all APL Parents for decorating the playground and helping run the party!
In a more low key homage due to ongoing exams, the British Section Vie Scolaire donned decorations to celebrate His Majesty's Coronation.
