On Wednesday, 12th June, accompanied by Professoressa Meloni and Mrs. McAllister, a group of students studying Italian in 2nde and 3GCSE visited the Istituto di Cultura Italiana (Italian Institute of Culture) to participate in an Italian Book Club for Teenagers.
"It was our first time visiting the Italian Institute, and the Direttore gave us a warm welcome, telling us we could always visit the Institute's library. We even received free memberships!
Soon after, we met the authors Carola Benedetto and Luciana Ciliento. They presented their latest book, "I ragazzi del Friday for Future." We then watched a video about the activist Pierre Rabhi, who described how he is helping to fight climate change. His efforts have inspired the authors to write this and many other books.
The authors taught us about various actions we can take to help protect the environment and preserve nature. They explained the challenges of writing a book and emphasized the importance of caring for the environment and our planet.
Their passion was evident as the authors recounted how they met, the time it took to write the book, and their future plans focused on climate change and the environment. The authors happily answered all our questions and promised that we would meet again to work together.
The Institute offered an Italian merenda, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We really appreciated our outing and hope the Italian Book Club will continue next year."
